Frequently Asked Questions

Duplicate content refers to substantial blocks of text that appear across multiple pages — either on the same website or across different sites. It can confuse search engines about which page to rank for a given query.

The tool compares the visible text content of both pages using a text-matching algorithm. A score of 100% means the content is identical; lower scores indicate varying degrees of similarity.

Google doesn't issue manual penalties for most duplicate content, but it may filter out duplicate pages from search results, showing only one version. This reduces your visibility if you have multiple similar pages competing for the same query.

A similarity above 60–70% warrants attention. Review the content and either differentiate the pages, merge them with a 301 redirect, or add a canonical tag pointing to the preferred version.

Rewrite or expand the content to make each page distinct, use canonical tags to consolidate duplicate pages, or merge similar pages and redirect the old URL to the main one using a 301 redirect.
